For two weeks in the beginning of June 2019, I joined my parents, and more family on their trip to Char Dham. Char Dham consists of four pilgrimage sites, namely Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.

(Technically, these four sites constitute ‘Chota Char Dham’ or ‘small Char Dham’, while the main Char Dham consists of Rameswaram, Dwaraka, Puri and Badrinath located at the four corners of India. But, the four sites in Uttarakhand state that we visited are themselves commonly referred to as Char Dham.)

Here are links to my experiences at the four places:

My idea for this trip was, in addition to Char Dham tour, to soak in some of the local life of Delhi. I meant to travel quite a bit in the famous Delhi Metro, and walk around old Delhi area. While I managed to travel a bit in the Delhi metro, I could not execute on my old Delhi plan, as I fell sick towards the end of Char Dham tour.

The little bit of Delhi Metro that I did travel in very well lived up to its expectations. It is world class in engineering, and world class in maintenance.

An additional worthy experience in our trip was our time with the villages of Kotwal Alampur.
