Kedarnath temple is a Siva temple situated beautifully in the midst of snow-capped mountains.

To get to the temple, one could book a helicopter drop off, or one could do the 16+ km hike from Gaurikund. There was no helicopter availability for us, and we chose to do the hike.

It was actually a huge ordeal to get to Gaurikund itself. The furthest a private vehicle could get to was Sonprayag, about 5 km from Gaurikund. We had to hop on a government vehicle to get to Gaurikund from Sonprayag. That said, our vehicle could not even get to Sonprayag because of standstill vehicle traffic from much before. We had to be dropped off about 6 km further south near Sersi, and we had to walk all the way from there to Sonprayag.
